A Key Item is an item that plays some important part in the story or gameplay in Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross, but is otherwise unusable. Anything that cannot be classified as equipment, consumable or any type of usable item is considered a key item. Such items include the Rainbow Shell or Moon Stone.
